Shasta Ghost Town, Whiskeytown, and Sundial Bridge – Family Road Trip

Day 3 of our family road trip through Northern California was full of completely unplanned adventures and exploration. Our morning is spent walking around the Shasta ghost town, which is the remains of a gold rush era mining town that saw its heyday in the mid 1800s. Then we head just up the road to Whiskeytown Lake for a quick swim. We finish off the day taking in the majestic Sundial Bridge in Redding, complete with a picnic under the bridge next to the Sacramento River.
