  1. Ethan, I think you missed one of the main reasons for the demise of the PT Cruiser. When it was first introduced, it was more than a good deal. It was a great deal. Such a good deal that Chrysler didn’t make money on it. Over the course of its nine year production run, Chrysler tried to rectify this by reducing manufacturing costs and raising the price. I am convinced that many of the styling changes introduced in 2006 were really cost reductions, and also had the effect of reducing the appeal. The 2001 PT Cruiser was a much better car than the 2010, and the sales figures reflected that.
