I thought I was done buying cars for a while—and then this Volkswagen Scirocco 16V goes up for sale! So you probably guessed it, I now own it. I had a nearly identical VW Scirocco 16V back when I was much younger. To this day it goes down as the worst, most unreliable piece of crap car that I’ve ever owned. And because I’m an automotive masochist, I decided to buy a nearly identical Scirocco as the one I used to own. Will it ruin my life as much as that first one did? Or was I just the victim of bad VW luck? Today, let’s talk about it!

Slow Car Fast! – Is The Scion xB Fun on a Twisty Road?
There’s no doubt about it—the first-generation Scion xB isn’t exactly a fast car. But can a simple upgrade make it fun on

Fun story!
I worked for VW corporate back in the 80s and was driving a pre-production 16V Scirocco back to LA from Phoenix after a media event.
I was pulled over by a CHP for doing 63 in a 55 zone (the highway speed limit back then), and the cop walked all around my “Arrest Me Red” car and said, “So, this thing goes pretty fast?”
With more than a touch of sarcasm I replied, “Well, according to you, it can go 63.”
Good thing he wasn’t around when I was doing 110 mph on I-10 in Arizona…
