A wartime icon made famous during the Gulf War. A tremendous machine capable of traversing the most treacherous terrain. A menacing beast that...
Ethan Tufts is an automobile nerd who loves to explore new places in unique and often terrible cars. You could often find him at 3am, half-asleep, hunched over a laptop displaying 45 open craigslist “car for sale” tabs. His infatuation with weird cars along with a shoestring budget often leads him to filling up his driveway with a brigade of terrible, failing hoopties.
What is the purpose of his automotive asininity? One car reminded him of a midnight drive to Cape Cod that he and friend did in their teens. Another was a carbon copy of his very first car. Another conjured vivid images of driving down Pacific Coast Highway on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
After turning 40 and counting how many hours were wasted imagining where these cars would take him—he came to realize he didn’t really want the cars themselves—he wanted what the cars represented. The stories that the cars evoked. A childhood memory. An old friend. A lazy day at the beach. Meeting locals while traveling around Europe.
Then it hit him. Could he turn these time-wasting, dead-end car searches into something positive? Could he transform these inanimate metal objects into stories that he will never forget? To enjoy the journey and not worry too much about the destination?
Ethan created Hello Road and started making car/travel videos as an excuse to get off his ass, go on adventures, make new friends, discover new things, travel to amazing places, and of course, justify his countless questionable automotive purchases.
